AUBURN, Indiana (May 9, 2016) – Auctions America saw the return of its annual Auburn Spring event, May 5–7, where some 400 collector vehicles and assorted automobilia crossed the block, totaling nearly $7.2 million* in sales—a result that represents a 40 percent increase over 2015. Additionally, 80 percent of all lots presented found new homes.
Thanks to the fantastic weather, crowds at the Auburn Auction Park were at historic highs across the weekend, from the Thursday evening sale session through to Saturday morning Cars & Coffee and feature car sales that afternoon. Bidders hailed from no less than 36 states across the U.S. and 12 countries around the world, with more than 30 percent representing first time clientele.
Continuing Auctions America's reputation for presenting diverse, quality product, the Auburn Spring docket offered something for all automotive enthusiasts, from entry-level collectors through to seasoned veterans of the hobby, and from iconic American classics and muscle through to exotic European sports and touring cars. The top-seller of the event was a striking 1968 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 at $247,500, representative of a segment of the market that is perennially desirable among collectors. Two pony cars completed the top three, with a time-capsule 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 and a highly optioned 1968 Shelby GT 500 Fastback selling for $238,700 and $159,500 respectively, the latter igniting a spirited bidding war between a collector in the room and on the phone.

Together, a 1966 Dodge Monaco Two-Door Hardtop and a 2006 Ford Shelby Terlingua Mustang Coupe Tribute raised $20,900 to benefit of Autism Speaks and the Treasure Coast Autism Project. Additionally, Auctions America offered a Hot Wheels car on behalf of a 13 year-old, next generation collector named Liam, who was raising funds for the Friends of Kids with Cancer organization. Generous bidders paid $3,000 for the tiny toys, donating the cars back twice to raise a total of $9,000 for the cause, with additional funds contributed by Auburn Spring attendees throughout the weekend. Beyond the auction action, Auburn Spring presented an exciting series of activities for enthusiasts of all ages. The event once again played host to the Antique Automobile Club of America's National Spring Meet, bringing another 250 cars to the Auburn Auction Park for display. Attractions in the all-new Automotive Midway included the eye-catching Planters NUTmobile, and a stream of fans lined up to meet Wayne Carini. The traditional onsite swap meet and car corral comprised 130 vendor spaces, with 200 cars in the corral, and were complemented this year by the first ever 'Retro Swap', an automotive flea market offering additional used parts and porcelain signs from local enthusiasts. Great weather and strong coffee saw nearly 100 cars gather for the second iteration of Auctions America's new Cars & Coffee series on the morning of May 7, allowing collectible car owners of all genres and eras to swap stories and share memories.
