VAUXHALL ART CAR BOOT FAIR HEADS TO HASTINGS
June 17, 2016 by Vauxhall◾The iconic event takes up residence at the Jerwood Gallery, Hastings for the first time Hastings, June 2016: Lured by the sea, the light, rhapsodic bohemian sensibilities and the spirit of pirate smugglers, the iconic Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair heads to Hastings this July. On Saturday 16th July, the artworld's most exuberant event parks up next to the sensational Jerwood Gallery, Hastings for one day only. This year's theme is 'The Hand', and will deliver a hand-selected line-up of established and up-and-coming artists who will be flinging open the boots of new and vintage Vauxhall cars to sell their original, exclusive artworks at incredible prices. With a line-up including Quentin Blake, Sir Peter Blake, Tracey Emin, Marcus Harvey, John Cooper Clarke, Keith Coventry, Martin Creed, Rachel Howard, and Gavin Turk, all the highlights from the flagship London event, and an array of new artists and performers handpicked from the fresh scene of local talent, Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair will be an unmissable day out for art-lovers, day-trippers, and merry-makers alike. Expect a whimsical afternoon packed with serious art bargains, exclusive works, special editions at very special prices, and vintage Vauxhall cars turned into unique installations. Plus a frenzy of fabulous hands-on entertainment, sleights of hand, glove puppetry, handbag slinging, hand-printing, exotic finger food, and locally sourced hand-pulled pints, delicious wines, gourmet hotdogs, and plenty more: ◾A Hastings based print from Sir Peter Blake, the original of which will hang in the Jerwood Gallery ◾Limited edition sculptures from Marcus Harvey to coincide with the opening of his One Man show at the Gallery ◾A newly released 'talking' screen print by John Cooper-Clarke◾Entertainment curated by Richard Strange ◾A live performance from Turner Prize winning Martin Creed & band ◾Fine art on nails and special hand-of-the-artist prints

If vintage cars are more likely to tickle your fancy, Vauxhall Motors is dusting off its heritage collection and will be bringing along a handful of Vauxhall Victors and a quintuplet of ADAMs for artists to use as pitches and installations at the event. Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair will be taking place on Saturday 16th July at Jerwood Gallery, Rock-A-Nore Rd, Hastings TN34 3DW between 12–3:30pm. Entry is £3.
