MECUM CHICAGO 2016 COLLECTOR CAR AUCTION SET FOR OCT. 6-8• 1,000 Vehicles Slated to be Auctioned at Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center

Walworth, Wis. – Sept. 13, 2016 – In 1988, Mecum Auctions held its first-ever auction at the Rockford Airport, and the company's presence in Chicagoland has since grown. Today, Mecum Auctions stands as the host of the area's only annual collector-car auction. Mecum Chicago 2016 will return to the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center on Oct. 6-8 featuring an estimated 1,000 collector cars headlined by American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, hot rods, Resto Mods and more.

Signature cars at this year's event include an award-winning 1957 Ford Thunderbird E-Code (Lot S124), a 1969 Chevrolet COPO Chevelle (Lot S125), one of only 323 produced in 1969, a 1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger R/T (Lot S96) with a pistol-grip 4-speed and a Chicago sports fan's dream in the form of a 1988 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet (Lot S101) finished in Chicago Bulls red and black that was previously owned by Scottie Pippen.

The auction is open to sellers, buyers, and spectators. Bidder registration is $100 in advance and $200 at the auction and includes admission for the bidder plus one guest during the three auction days. Doors open each day at 8 a.m. with the auction beginning with Road Art at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6 and at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7-8. The cars will begin crossing the auction block at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6 and at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7-8. NBC Sports Network will broadcast a select schedule of auction coverage, and a live stream of the entire auction will be presented at Mecum.com.
