PETER MULLIN RECEIVES THE IHM AWARD FOR PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT

Peter Mullin, founder of the Mullin Automotive Museum and Chairman of the Petersen Automotive Museum, was honored at this year's International Historic Motoring Awards in London for his service and leadership to the automotive hobby.

Oxnard, Calif. (November, 2016) – The International Historic Motoring Awards have chosen to bestow its fifth annual Award for Personal Achievement to Peter Mullin, in recognition of his service to the automotive hobby, his impeccable taste as a collector and his philanthropic endeavors. Mr. Mullin, who is the founder of the Mullin Automotive Museum and chairman of the Board of Directors for the Petersen Automotive Museum, was on hand at the Guildhall in London on Thursday, November 17 to accept the award.

The Personal Achievement Award is designed to celebrate the accomplishments of the individual in the automotive industry who has made the greatest benefit to historic motoring and classic car culture in the last twelve months. Anyone in the industry is eligible to be nominated but those who win have accomplished something truly special.

'It is a great honor to be singled out by such a prestigious group of enthusiasts and industry professionals,' said Peter Mullin, founder of the Mullin and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Petersen. 'It's been my personal goal to elevate the classic car hobby to the heights that it deserves. Cars should be celebrated as art and it seems as though we've done that with the Mullin Museum and the Petersen Museum.'

Peter Mullin's personal achievements over the last twelve months are many and include serving as the chairman of the board of directors of the Petersen and overseeing the institution's transformation into the world's preeminent automotive museum. Mr. Mullin has also been the driving force behind the automotive museum bearing his own name and has worked to bring that institution's collection out to the public, both on the concours and at the race track.

The International Historic Motoring Awards have been given out since 2011. Award recipients in the 13 categories are selected from nominees put forth by automotive professionals and enthusiasts. The IHMA Awards are sponsored by Octane Magazine and EFG Bank. The list of judges for the International Historic Motoring Awards are incredibly prestigious as well and include names like Derek Bell, Jochen Mass, Jay Leno, Bruce Meyer, Nick Mason and McKeel Hagerty.

The Mullin Automotive Museum is located at 1421 Emerson Avenue, Oxnard, CA 93033, in the building formerly occupied by the Otis Chandler Vintage Museum of Transportation and Wildlife. The museum is typically open to the public on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month from 10 AM to 3 PM. Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.MullinAutomotiveMuseum.com. Semi-Private tours are offered on Tuesdays at 10 AM and Thursdays at 11 AM for $40 per person. Other weekdays may be available by appointment. Reservations are required.
