NISSAN CELEBRATES ITS 100TH SCCA CHAMPIONSHIP VICTORY IN 2016
December 6, 2016 by NissanLEXINGTON, Ohio – Some of the biggest names in U.S. motorsport's history have driven Nissan and Datsun machines to Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) championship success. This year at the annual SCCA National Championship Runoffs at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Nissan recorded its 100th championship victory in 49 years of competition. Nissan legend Bob Sharp scored the first-ever win in 1967. The Nissan honor-roll reads like a 'who's who' of U.S. motorsport history including John Morton, Don Devendorf, Elliott Forbes-Robinson, actor-racer Paul Newman and Bob Sharp's son, Scott, who will pilot a Nissan-powered Prototype in next year's IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The 100th championship victory this year went to Nissan 350Z driver, Derek Kulach. Read more about Nissan's 100th victory here. Nissan achieved more success last weekend in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill in California. Nissan 370Zs finished 1-2 in the 'EO' class with the win coming down to a final two-hour battle before Valkyrie Autosport took the win.
