ROCKINGHAM TO HOST JOINT RENAULT UK CLIO CUP & UK CLIO CUP JUNIOR MEDIA DAY
December 15, 2016 by Renault SportThe Rockingham circuit in Northamptonshire will again host the Renault UK Clio Cup's annual pre-season Media Day launch in 2017 – on Friday 17 March. The event will preview both the senior UK Clio Cup and new UK Clio Cup Junior championship for 14 to 17-year-old racing drivers. It will mark the first time in the new calendar year that all teams, drivers and cars registered for the UK Clio Cup will come together in the same place prior to their season starting at Brands Hatch a fortnight later (Sat 1/Sun 2 April). Those teams/drivers already registered for the UK Clio Cup Junior championship will also be on show. Furthermore the day will provide 'sampler sessions' – an opportunity to test the Junior-spec car – for those still interested in joining the grid when the championship begins in early June. Meanwhile a carefully arranged timetable will provide media attending on the day with plenty of access to all teams and drivers for interview, photo and filming opportunities. The UK Clio Cup will again race at the British Touring Car Championship's high-profile events in 2017 – meaning huge trackside crowds plus regular live free-to-air television coverage on ITV4. UK Clio Cup Junior will use the same cars (based on the racing version of the potent Clio Renault Sport 220 Trophy). The only differences will be a minor modification to the ECU to limit cars to five gears and 100mph and a switch to road tyres, Michelin's high-performance Pilot Sport 3.
