Volkswagen Golf Alltrack Named 2017 Canadian Car Of The YearTORONTO, Ontario (February 16, 2017) — The Volkswagen Golf Alltrack won the prestigious 2017 Canadian Car of the Year award from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) today at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto. Some 60 Canadian automotive journalists vote on the award after a rigorous back-to-back testing program designed to highlight real-world performance.

'We are honored that the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada found the Golf Alltrack so appealing,' said Hinrich J. Woebcken, CEO of the North American Region, Volkswagen, at the reveal of the award in Toronto. 'The Golf Alltrack was designed to offer an affordable yet upscale alternative to other all-wheel-drive wagons, and we're heartened by the reception in North America from customers and automotive enthusiasts alike.'

The award adds to the long list of accolades for the Volkswagen Golf Alltrack and Golf family. For example, in November, Car and Driver magazine named the Golf, Golf Alltrack, Golf GTI and Golf R to its 2017 '10Best' list. The Golf was also given AutoPacific's 2016 Ideal Vehicle Award (IVA), ranking first in the publication's compact car segment for the third year in a row.

The Golf Alltrack joined the Golf family for 2017 with a starting price of $25,850. Building on the popular Golf SportWagen, Alltrack offers a raised ground clearance, standard 4Motion all-wheel drive and rugged exterior styling combined with the fun-to-drive nature of the Golf family. The Alltrack uses Volkswagen's powerful yet fuel-efficient 1.8-liter TSI® turbocharged and direct-injected four-cylinder engine, which makes 170 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque, paired with either a six-speed DSG® dual-clutch automatic transmission or a six-speed manual transmission.
