•Second year for Formula E on the track in Brooklyn

HERNDON, Virginia, July 13, 2018 – Audi of America will be returning to the ABB FIA Formula E Championship in Brooklyn, New York, for the double-header season finale at the 2018 Qatar Airways New York City E-Prix on July 14-15. This season marks the brand's first appearance as an official factory team, with two Audi e-tron FE04 cars on the circuit.

Audi Sport Team ABT Schaeffler – with drivers Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt – is currently in second place in the team standings with 33 points to make up in the two remaining races to have a chance at the team championship title. Coming off a historic win at the June 10 Zurich E-Prix, Lucas di Grassi is now in third place in the driver standings, with his eye on the podium in Brooklyn.

'Just as the future of the Audi brand turns toward electrification, so does the future of racing,' said Scott Keogh, president, Audi of America. 'We are tremendously proud of the ABT Schaeffler team this season, and in our strides to evolve electrification for both Formula E and our customers.'

This season, ABT Schaeffler had a clean sweep at the Berlin E-Prix, and secured the first E-Prix win on Swiss soil at last month's Zurich race. With a score of 186 points to date, the Audi team is within striking distance of the team title.

In the era of electrification, the Audi Sport mantra – 'tested on the track, built for the road' – is reinforced through its factory presence at Formula E. As the Audi Sport Team ABT Schaeffler FE04 cars take to the track, the Audi fan experience at the New York City E-Prix will feature the brand's on-road approach to electrification with the e-tron prototype SUV. Race fans attending this weekend's Formula E final will be able to view the prototype, which is similar to the production version of the Audi e-tron vehicle that will debut this fall, and will begin arriving in customer driveways in 2019.

The fully electric Audi e-tron is a five-passenger SUV aimed at the heart of the premium market. With progressive design, advanced electric and digital technology, the driving dynamics and build quality that customers expect of a premium vehicle, the e-tron lets consumers go electric without compromise. The e-tron will be the first of 3 battery-electric vehicles that Audi plans to debut by 2020, with nearly 30 percent of its customers in the U.S. anticipated to go electric by 2025.
