Porsche Recognizes 126 Technicians For 20+ Years of Customer Service

Atlanta, Georgia. Who would you trust with your Porsche? How about someone who's been working on them for more than half a century?

Larry Moulton of Porsche Salt Lake City has been servicing cars since 1962, a year before the debut of the iconic Porsche 911. On Thursday, Moulton was recognized as the longest-tenured U.S. Porsche dealership technician in a ceremony launching a new award by Porsche Cars North America (PCNA).

The 190 independently owned and operated U.S. Porsche dealerships have some of the industry's most experienced hands taking care of cars for customers. The new Technician Tenure Award is meant to honor them. On the same day as Moulton, another 125 technicians across the U.S. received their own personalized awards for 20 or more years of Porsche service. From now on, the recognition will go annually to those with 20, 30, 40, and 50-plus years of technician work.

Moulton received his award from Klaus Zellmer, President and CEO of PCNA, on Nov. 1 at Porsche Salt Lake City, one of the oldest Porsche dealerships in the U.S.

'About 70 percent of all Porsche cars ever made are still on the road today,' said Zellmer. 'The high-quality work of our technicians helps keep them going. We want to recognize our employees' loyalty and expertise, which have such an important impact on the Porsche customer experience.'

PCNA is unveiling the Technician Tenure Award as the automotive industry is experiencing major shifts, including higher turnover among dealership technicians. Porsche is bucking that trend. Of the more than 1,300 current Porsche technicians in the U.S., 126 of them have spent 20 or more years with the company, a testament to the brand and to employee engagement. Combined, the technicians honored in this first round of awards have 4,067 years of experience working on Porsche cars.

Moulton, 74, is a Gold Level Porsche Certified Master Technician who has spent 56 years working on Porsche sports cars, including 53 years with Strong Auto Group in Salt Lake City, Utah.

ABOUT THE AWARD: Designed by Dustin Gilleland at Porsche Cars North America's headquarters in Atlanta, each of the 18-pound steel awards are hand-fabricated by Fuller Moto in Atlanta. The award's backdrop represents the roofline and signage of the original Porsche factory in Stuttgart, Germany. The curved front of each award represents the updated Generation 4 design of current Porsche dealerships. Each award also features a cut section of a Porsche ceramic composite brake rotor as a symbol of the work technicians do and a model car to represent the decade the technician joined Porsche.
