•The new Range Rover Evoque was named 'Small Premium SUV of the Year', while the Discovery took home the 'Large SUV of the Year' title

•Evoque also won the Technology Award for its innovative ClearSight Ground View technology

•Former Jaguar Design Director, and Jaguar employee of 20 years, Ian Callum received the Lifetime Achievement Award

Tuesday 9 July 2019, Whitley – Jaguar Land Rover has won four categories at the Auto Express Awards 2019, including two victories for the all-new Range Rover Evoque and a Lifetime Achievement Award for former Jaguar Design Director, Ian Callum.

Introduced only this year, the all-new Range Rover Evoque has already been named GQ's Compact SUV of the Year. Now, the Evoque can add another two major titles to its roster, following this year's Auto Express Awards. The expert team of journalists at Britain's biggest selling weekly car magazine named the Evoque their 'Small Premium SUV of the Year', and highlighted ClearSight Ground View in their Technology Award. The realisation of Land Rover's 2014 'invisible bonnet' concept, ClearSight Ground View uses cameras to project a 180-degree view of what's ahead of the occupants, including underneath the car's bonnet.

Steve Fowler, Editor-in-Chief of Auto Express, said: 'The new Range Rover Evoque has plenty of substance to back up its style. Its exterior might not be a revolutionary change, but the interior has been overhauled and it's now the most interesting, high-quality, luxurious and tech-filled car in its class. The ClearSight Ground View system is a particular highlight, and a worthy winner of our Technology Award. Land Rover is known for innovation when it comes to off-roading, so it only stands to reason that the British brand has come up with a world-first system to help when taking your car away from the tarmac.'

The Auto Express team also named the Discovery as its 'Large SUV of the Year' 2019. Having been crowned overall Auto Express 'Car of the Year' in 2017, and 'Large SUV of the Year' in 2018, the latest Discovery has won an Auto Express Award every year since it was introduced.

Rawdon Glover, Jaguar Land Rover UK Managing Director, said: 'These latest Auto Express Awards really speak to the depth and talent of the Jaguar Land Rover team and model line-up. With two awards for Evoque – introduced this year – and another for Discovery – introduced in 2016 – it's a clear indication that not only are our products class-leading, but they remain class-leading throughout their lives.'

A very special Auto Express Lifetime Achievement Award was reserved for former Jaguar Design Director, Ian Callum, who left the company on 1 July after a stellar Jaguar career spanning 20 years. Since joining Jaguar in 1999, Ian built a world-class creative design team, established a new design philosophy and revived the range with award-winning designs. These include F-TYPE – Jaguar's first two-seater sports car since the E-type – the XE, XF and XJ saloons, and the marque's first SUVs – F-PACE, E-PACE and most recently the all-electric I-PACE, which in April was crowned 2019 World Car of the Year, World Car Design of the Year and World Green Car.

Ian Callum CBE, Former Director of Design at Jaguar, said: 'Auto Express has been an ever-present part of my working life at Jaguar so it's a real privilege to receive such a momentous award from the team. Designing Jaguar cars was a lifelong dream for me, and I'm honoured to have been able to have left my mark on a brand that has such an impeccable heritage. I'm pleased that my association with Jaguar will continue as an official brand ambassador and design consultant.'
