The all-new PEUGEOT 208 has been named as one of the seven finalists for the highly coveted Car of the Year (COTY) 2020 title.

The COTY jury, composed of 60 automotive experts across Europe, praised the all-new PEUGEOT 208 for its sharp and dynamic design and its distinctive customer offering in the sector. The all-new 208 is the first vehicle to fulfil PEUGEOT's new philosophy of 'choose your PEUGEOT, choose your powertrain', and from launch will be available with a fully electric variant, the e-208, as well as a range of efficient diesel and petrol engines.

Judges were also impressed by the high levels of technology offered in the all-new 208. The next-generation PEUGEOT 3D i-Cockpit® introduces innovative hologram technology. The 3D holograms, displayed on the configurable 3D head-up display, get closer to the drivers' field of vision to highlight potential hazards.

The all-new 208 also features driving assistance technologies usually reserved for larger vehicle segments, including Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Active Lane Positioning Assist, and comes standard with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto connectivity.

The winner of the Car of the Year 2020 award will be announced on 2nd March 2020 at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland.

David Peel, Managing Director of PEUGEOT UK, said: 'The Car of the Year title is arguably one of the most coveted awards in the industry. To be recognised in the final seven vehicles is already a great achievement for the all-new PEUGEOT 208, and is just reward for the hard work we've put into developing the vehicle.

'The all-new 208 is the first vehicle to follow our vision of offering electric, petrol and diesel powertrains in a single model, and the COTY nomination suggests the industry is just as excited about the all-new 208 as we are.'

COTY judges have narrowed down the final list of seven cars competing for the Car of the Year 2020 title:

•BMW 1-Series

•Ford Puma

•PEUGEOT 208

•Porsche Taycan

•Renault Clio

•Tesla Model 3

•Toyota Corolla

PEUGEOT has won a total of five COTY awards, with 3008 SUV claiming the 2017 COTY title, and has been included in the finalists 'Short List' for the second time in two years. The COTY jury is composed of 60 automotive expert journalists from 23 European countries. Founded in 1964, the COTY award is the most coveted prize in the automotive industry.

By 2023, PEUGEOT has promised to offer its entire line-up with an electrified variant.
