Milton Keynes – Volkswagen is working carefully with its retailer partners to ensure that customers can access the services they need while strict social distancing and Government guidelines are followed. The vast majority of retailers are already open for service and repairs, while some in England are also able to carry out contactless vehicle handovers, ahead of showrooms being able to open from 1 June. Volkswagen has also launched a 'Three months on us' offer for retail customers purchasing a new vehicle on finance.

As lockdown restrictions begin to ease, Volkswagen is informing customers that retailers across the UK are available to them. As more and more open their workshops for pre-booked appointments, others in England are introducing a 'click and collect' type option for new and used vehicle collection. These handovers will take place outdoors while maintaining all social distancing guidelines. In some cases retailers may be able to arrange delivery of the vehicle to a home address. While showrooms remain closed in England until 1 June, in line with Government guidance, customers should speak to their local retailer to see what services are available.

To ease the financial burden on customers during these challenging times, Volkswagen has introduced a new finance offer where the brand will cover the first three months' worth of payments on new car purchases. The offer is available across the whole range when a vehicle is purchased on Solutions Personal Contract Plan. In order to provide an entirely contactless experiences for customers, Volkswagen has worked with retailers to give detailed guidance on everything from the layout of sites, to key-drop off and sanitising of customer vehicles. Every retailer has received checklists to ensure that these measures are followed and that customers are informed in advance of the process, whether it be dropping off a vehicle for a service or collecting a brand new vehicle.

Andrew Savvas, Managing Director of Volkswagen UK, said: 'The safety of our customers and staff is our highest priority and so we are taking careful note of all Government guidelines as the UK continues to cautiously ease out of lockdown. Within these guidelines, many of our retailers are already offering a wide range of services, including contactless handover of vehicles.
