LONDON (16 June 2020) – Following the phenomenal success of its €19.2 million Online Only: The European Sale featuring the Petitjean Collection, RM Sotheby's is delighted to announce that it has expanded its online auction calendar with the announcement of Online Only: Open Roads, The European Summer Auction, taking place via the company's proprietary digital auction platform on rmsothebys.com. Open for bidding from 14–21 July, the sale will feature approximately 80 collector cars curated by RM Sotheby's specialists specifically for the online auction platform, with early consignments led by an incredible collection of sought-after Porsche models known as Porsche Passion, 1960-2020.

Leading the Porsche Passion, 1960-2020 collection is a 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster delivered with a comprehensive list of optional extras including 20-inch GT3-style central-lock platinum finish wheels, Bose sound system, dimmable ambient interior lighting, front axle lift system, lightweight bucket seats, decorative seats with embroidery in contrasting colours, and the sport chrono package. The Speedster was the final edition of the 991-model series, sharing key engineering and mechanical parts with its acclaimed GT3 sister model while boasting the roof-less, speed-orientated shape that Porsche has made synonymous with the Speedster badge. With a production run of just under 2,000 models, every 991 Speedster is fitted with a manual transmission and the small number of units produced make this a rare opportunity to buy one of these iconic cars at auction (Estimate: €300,000-€350,000).

Also offered from the marque collection is a 1969 Porsche 911 S 2.2 Coupé Prototype, pulled off the assembly line during production and used by Porsche as a development chassis, verified with factory paperwork pertaining to its history. This early example of the model was factory equipped with the 12th production 2.2-litre engine built (Type 911/02), recorded on its Kardex, and used to test the compatibility of the new powerplant with its five-speed transaxle. This example was fully restored in 2013 (Est. €150,000-€200,000). A 1987 Porsche 911 Turbo 'Group B' is one of a very small group of 930 Turbos fitted from new with the factory 'Group B' kit by Porsche's Swedish importer, and this model features 935-type adjustable boost control with a larger intercooler, oil cooler and turbocharger (Est. €140,000-€180,000). A 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera RS offered from the collection is verified as having matching numbers, finished in black over a purple interior with history of key model-specific maintenance (Est. €140,000-€180,000).

The Porsche collection also includes a 1960 Porsche 356 Super 90 Cabriolet (Est. €110,000-€140,000), a 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 Coupé (Est. €80,000-€120,000) and a 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 (Est. €50,000-€70,000). Sitting alongside the Porsche models in the collection, the consignor is also offering a 1976 Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2, said to be the last of the 365 GT4 2+2s to leave the Ferrari factory, in the Online Only: Open Roads sale (Est. €80,000-€120,000).

In addition to the single-owner collection of Porsche models, another legend of the Stuttgart marque will be offered for sale as part of the Online Only: Open Roads auction. A pristine and very early 1975 Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera which was amongst the first 930 Turbos to run off the production line, is a beautifully presented car finished in special order copper brown metallic over a leather brown-beige interior. A magazine pin-up, the immaculately restored Porsche has featured in contemporary road tests and appeared on the front covers of the likes of GT Porsche, Total 911 and more. The car is offered for sale with comprehensive history and service files with associated paperwork (Est. €275,000-€325,000).

'Our Online Only auction format continues to go from strength to strength, and we are delighted to offer a second European auction following soon after our first iteration,' said Will Smith, Car Specialist at RM Sotheby's. 'We are thrilled to bring this diverse and eclectic range of Porsche models to auction. These early consignments reflect the positive theme of this new Open Roads sale, with the star lots consigned so far proven to be extremely popular in the European market. We can expect more entries to come of a similar era and theme as our specialists work to find the most suitable cars for this platform.'

Each car offered in the Online Only auction will be presented with comprehensive photography and in most cases will be accompanied by condition reports completed by RM Sotheby's specialists as well as catalogue descriptions. Where available, additional information on each lot, such as history files, production certificates, restoration documentation, service invoices, owner's manuals, and accompanying parts can be viewed online.

Bidder registration for Online Only: Open Roads, The European Summer Auction will soon be open and requires very simple steps to complete. RM Sotheby's Client Service team is ready to assist interested bidders with any part of the account creation or registration process.

Interested consignors are invited to contact an RM Sotheby's car specialist via our European Office.
