Milton Keynes – Volkswagen is continuing the evolution of its brand identity and communications with its used car programme, formerly called DasWeltAuto, being renamed as Volkswagen Approved Used.

The switch to a new name marks another step in Volkswagen's global rebranding to promote clear and simple communication across multiple platforms, including digital. The orange colour scheme of Das WeltAuto is maintained for Volkswagen Approved Used, as are the same guidelines for, and properties of, each car on the scheme.

The planned roll-out was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent closure of retailers during the lockdown, but with showrooms now re-opened across the UK the new programme is rolling out across the network.

The package offered by Volkswagen Approved Used is as before: skilled Volkswagen-trained technicians carry out a thorough 142-point check and test drive of the vehicle. Any faults are fixed with genuine Volkswagen parts, thus qualifying the model for Approved Used status. Each Approved Used Volkswagen comes with a 12-month, unlimited-mileage warranty, 12 months of roadside assistance, 12-month MOT cover and 30-day/1,000 mile 'no quibble' exchange policy, in the unlikely event a customer should have second thoughts about their purchase.

Since its launch in 2011, Das WeltAuto won multiple awards for its exemplary used car service, including the 2014 'Used Car Programme of the Year' from CarDealer magazine. It was highly commended by the same publication two years later.

The renaming of Das WeltAuto to Volkswagen Approved Used follows the launch of the refreshed Volkswagen roundel and Volkswagen R logo, with both symbols progressing into simpler and more digital-friendly versions. This represents the movement of the Volkswagen brand into a new digital, electric era.
