•Peer nominated awards recognise and celebrate 30 women within the industry, regardless of seniority or position, who have inspired their colleagues

Established with the aim of inspiring and supporting women in the automotive industry, the UK Automotive 30% Club have announced their 2020 Inspiring Automotive Women Award winners, recognising women within the industry. Zoe Allen, Compliance Officer, and Moyosola Fujamade, Senior Press Officer (Events), were both recognised as two of this year's 30 Inspiring Automotive Women.

Zoe has worked for Kia since 2013 across a number of roles and has been key in the continued success of Strive, the networking group and discussion forum intended to provide support, community and a unified, rational voice aiming to progress gender diversity within Kia. Mentoring and encouraging more junior female employees is a responsibility that Zoe embraces daily.

Commenting on her win Zoe said: 'I'm delighted to receive this award, particularly in such a challenging year when new challenges are upon everyone. Our work inspiring and supporting women in the industry is something I hold close to my heart. I'll continue to work with the 30% Club to create further opportunities in the industry for women, created by cultural and societal change.'

Whilst at university, Moyo completed a 12-month placement in the automotive industry before graduating and beginning work at Kia in 2014. Whilst delivering an award winning service to the UK media, she is also a member of both Strive and the Racial Equality Group within Kia. In response to her award, she said: 'This is a brilliant surprise and I am incredibly proud that my efforts have been recognised. 'Lifting as I rise' is a phrase extremely close to my heart and ensuring that industries such as automotive are accessible to everyone motivates me daily, to challenge the status quo.'

Julia Muir, CEO Gaia Innovation, Founder of the Automotive 30% Club said: 'Today we celebrate and recognise the most inspiring women in the sector, nominated by colleagues and peers. We have heard wonderful uplifting stories of how all these amazing women have not only added significant value to their businesses, but are also encouraging others to improve and progress, or giving much needed support to their team members through the unsettling impact of the pandemic. They are actively involved in creating inclusive environments, and are also engaged in activities to show that automotive is a positive career choice for women. They are lifting other women as they rise, and as per the motto of the suffragette movement, they are taking real action with 'deeds not words'.

'All of these truly fabulous women deserve our heartfelt appreciation for their outstanding contribution to making our industry more vibrant, exciting, warm, collaborative and successful. I'd like to say a special congratulations to all of our winners on winning their thoroughly deserved award, and being a Game Changer in the automotive sector.'

Both of Kia's winners continue to not only excel with contributions to the business but are also committed to inspiring other women to progress with a variety of activities which show that the automotive industry is a positive and inclusive career path for women. Alongside a number of other Kia employees, Zoe and Moyo participate in a number of worthy activities, including attending several school visits organised by The Automotive 30% Club, to promote the awareness of the automotive industry.

The awards are organised by The Automotive 30% Club, whose purpose is to achieve a better gender balance within the automotive industry, with the aim of filling at least 30 per cent of key leadership positions in their member organisations with women by 2030.
