2022 Volkswagen Jetta EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings announced for all models

Herndon, VA — Volkswagen of America today announced the official fuel economy ratings for the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta. 2022 Jetta base models are now equipped with the 1.5-liter turbocharged and direct-injection EA211 TSI® engine found in the Taos compact SUV, featuring Volkswagen's modified version of the Miller cycle, where the intake valves are closed early in the induction stroke to help with fuel economy, and has a very high compression ratio of up to 11.5 to one. The upshot is a combination of low-speed torque and competitive fuel economy.
Jetta models with the standard six-speed manual transmission have an EPA-estimated rating of 29 mpg city, 43 mpg highway, and 34 mpg combined. S models equipped with the optional eight-speed automatic transmission have an EPA-estimated rating of 31 mpg city, 41 mpg highway, and 35 mpg combined. SE and SEL models equipped with the optional eight-speed automatic transmission have an EPA-estimated rating of 29 mpg city, 40 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined.
According to the EPA, buyers of the 2022 Jetta can save as much as $1,500 in fuel over five years compared to the national average new vehicle, while those who choose the GLI can save as much as $500.

Jetta GLI models feature a 2.0-liter EA888 engine models equipped with the standard six-speed manual transmission and have an EPA-estimated rating of 26 mpg city, 37 mpg highway and 30 mpg combined. Models equipped with the optional seven-speed DSG® dual-clutch automatic transmission have an EPA-estimated rating of 26 mpg city, 36 mpg highway and 30 mpg combined. All ratings are based on regular unleaded fuel.
