Herndon, VA – Volkswagen Group of America (VWGoA) and the Greater Washington Urban League (GWUL) announced today the second annual 'Future Leaders in Mobility Program,' set to run from August 1, 2022 through August 5, 2022. This week-long program is for rising high school juniors and seniors from historically underserved and vulnerable populations in the Washington, DC metro area and will focus on informing students about the broad range of career opportunities in the automotive industry.

'Here at Volkswagen, we strive to give back to the communities where we live and work,' said Anna Schneider, Senior Vice President, Industry and Government Relations for VWGoA. 'This program is a testament to that purpose and I am delighted to welcome another group of ambitious students to our headquarters for a week of industry insights and leadership development. I am so grateful for the tremendous support of my VW Group colleagues who give their time and talent to make this program a success.'

VWGoA will host the week of scheduled activities and sessions with company leadership at its headquarters in Herndon, Virginia. This learning experience will include presentations, activities, and site visits that cover topics across VWGoA's numerous brands and departments to provide students a close look at the various exciting automotive careers paths available. These include engineering, marketing, communications, finance and dealership operations. The GWUL will select up to 30 students from the pool of applicants. VWGoA and the GWUL have increased the number from last year's program in which 17 students participated.

Following the week-long program, students will have the opportunity to participate in a formal, year-long mentorship program to connect with VWGoA leadership on further career advice and guidance as they chart their academic studies. The mentorship offering will be tailored to match the student's career interests.

'We are thrilled to partner with VWGoA for the second year of this exceptional learning opportunity,' said George Lambert, President and CEO of the Greater Washington Urban League. 'Our children equal our destiny so let's salute our leaders of tomorrow.'
