MARKHAM, ONT. (Aug 5, 2022) – Today, Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. reported total July sales of 9,889 units, a decrease of 18.4 per cent compared to July 2021. Hyundai's top three best-selling models were the Elantra (2,747 units), Tucson (2,605 units) and Kona (1,359 units).

Hyundai's electrified fleet showed strong sales with 2,158 units, representing 21.8 per cent of July sales volume. The award-winning Tucson is the nameplate with the most electrified sales with 851 units of the hybrid variant sold and plug-in sales of 237 units, representing an increase of 57.3 per cent. The Kona Electric follows with 380 deliveries in July. Rounding out the top three is the World Car of the Year winner, IONIQ 5, which recorded 294 deliveries in July. 

The following models posted YoY gains: Elantra (7.1%), Venue (9.9%) and Tucson HEV (57.3%).

'With the current economic conditions, we have seen an increase in electric vehicle purchases, representing nearly a quarter of vehicle sales in the month of July,' says Ken Maisonville, director of sales at Hyundai Canada. 'We remain committed to maintaining consistent communication with dealers and customers as we continue to navigate the perfect storm of higher-than-ever demand for EVs and an industry-wide inventory shortage.'
