Hyundai Canada reports April sales, including first deliveries of the all-new, IONIQ 6

    • Hyundai's electrified line-up hit record levels in April, comprising 31 per cent of sales
    • Hyundai Canada's intermediate SUVs recording year-over-year sales gains

Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. reported total April sales of 9,931 units. The Tucson (2,472 units), Elantra (1,863 units) and Kona (1,505) were April's three best-selling Hyundai models, respectively.

First units of the highly anticipated IONIQ 6 fully-electric sedan and newly minted World Electric Vehicle and World Car Design of the Year started to arrive in Canadian showrooms, resulting in 211 deliveries. Hyundai Canada's total electrified sales accounted for 31 per cent of April's sales, representing the highest percentage on record for Hyundai's combined EV and hybrid sales. The Tucson hybrid led the way with 1,309 units (+196.2 per cent), followed by the Kona EV with 538 (+81.8 per cent) units and IONIQ 5 with 300 units. The Sonata and Elantra hybrid electric vehicles recorded combined sales of 200 units.

The refreshed Palisade posted strong gains of 74.5 per cent year-over-year with 834 units sold.  Santa Cruz sales reflect continued consumer interest in Hyundai's award-winning Sport Adventure Vehicle, selling 370 units.

'The busy Spring selling season is now in effect, and Hyundai offers the market a wide selection of award-winning vehicles, and with various powertrains,' says Ken Maisonville, director of sales at Hyundai Auto Canada. 'April sales were led by Tucson, and the top-selling compact car in Canada year-to-date, the Elantra. Both nameplates are offered as hybrid models and helped propel our monthly record for electrified sales in Canada, topped off with the very first deliveries of the 2023 World Car of the Year, the IONIQ 6.'
