HYUNDAI IONIQ 5 N – 2024 WORLD PERFORMANCE CAR

THE ROAD TO WORLD CAR 2024 and the WORLD CAR FINALS POWERED BY BREMBO concluded today with the live announcement of the winners in six award categories at the New York International Auto Show.

The HYUNDAI IONIQ 5 N is the 2024 World Performance Car.

This is the seventh award win for the Hyundai Motor Company in the World Car Awards' 20-year history. In 2023, the Hyundai IONIQ 6 was a triple winner in the World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle and the World Car Design of the Year categories. While in 2022, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 was also a triple winner in those same categories.

A jury of 100 distinguished international automotive journalists from 29 countries selected the winners by secret ballot based on their evaluation of each eligible vehicle as part of their on-going professional work. The vote results were tabulated by KPMG.

The HYUNDAI IONIQ 5 N was chosen from an initial entry list of seventeen (17) vehicles from all over the world then a short list of three finalists as announced on February 26th, 2024 at the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS). The 2024 Top Three in the World finalists are the BMW M2, the BMW XM and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

Vehicles eligible for World Performance Car must be produced in volumes of at least 1,000 units/year, must be overtly performance-focused in overall character, and must be 'on-sale' in at least two major markets (China, Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Latin America, USA) on at least two separate continents within the period January 1, 2023 and March 30, 2024. Substantially revised variations of existing models, specifically designed to enhance overall performance characteristics, may be eligible, at the discretion of the organizers.
