Area Chambers Recognize Gill Campbell and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca's Impact in the Community

Company press release.

MONTEREY, Calif., March 20, 2014 — CEO and General Manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca Gill Campbell has received the second of three prestigious honors for her work in the community and the impact that Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has throughout the Monterey Bay community.

On February 27 Campbell received the Businesswoman of the Year award from the Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce at its 93rd annual awards luncheon. Attended by more than 550 area leaders, Campbell accepted the award on behalf of all the volunteers, board members and staff who 'make me look good,' she said.

The second honor came March 15 from the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, which presented Campbell with the Robert C. Littlefield Award for Lifetime Achievement. This honor recognizes her tireless involvement with local associations, businesses and national organizations. Campbell currently is on the board of directors of the Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau, member of the Monterey Economic Development Committee, president of the Road Racing Industry Council, member of the Steering Committee for the Le May America's Car Museum and is on the Rabobank Regional President's Advisory Council.

'It has been a humbling experience for me as I stand before hundreds of people who are responsible for the ongoing vitality of the community. The chambers have provided a great platform for businesses such as the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula,' Campbell said. 'I am thrilled to be honored in such manners, but am even more thrilled that the recognition received is attributed to our hundreds of volunteers who make Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca an economic workhorse for the Central Coast.'

The third honor for Campbell occurs April 22 from California State University Monterey Bay's College of Business, where she will be recognized for her business and community leadership.

The Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP) is the not-for-profit organization that manages Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. SCRAMP, with its 26 volunteer board directors, has been the concessionaire for the County of Monterey since the race track's inception in 1957. SCRAMP produces five major racing events each year and contributes its net proceeds to the community organizations that support the events through volunteerism.
