BIRMINGHAM GETS A TASTE OF THE ITALIAN JOB

Birmingham will get a taste of Italian Job this weekend as the cult classic film, voted the Favourite Classic Motoring Movie by car and film fans in a nationwide survey, will be shown at The Electric Cinema, the UK's oldest working cinema as part of the build up for this year's Footman James Classic Motor Show.
The iconic Mini chase through 'Turin', part of which was filmed in Coventry, was also named Favourite Classic Car Chase in a Movie. The Italian Job, released in 1969 and starred Michael Cain, Noel Coward and Benny Hill, is the ultimate comic caper movie – with cars thrown in!
The screening of The Italian Job will take place on Saturday 10th November at 3pm at The Electric Cinema on Station Street, with the Footman James Classic Motor Show opening its doors at Birmingham's NEC from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th November.
The Footman James Classic Motor Show, incorporating The Footman James Classic Motorbike Show, is the UK's biggest indoor motoring exhibition and this year, spans eleven halls with an estimated 1,500 cars and 350 motorcycles on display. Attracting over 50,000 motoring enthusiasts to the region, the motors on display range from the rare and exciting to pre-war and retro classics, family saloons to supercars, the sublime to the ridiculous, and many more.
The film survey and screening is part of the show's theme 'What's the Story?' As stunning as these vehicles are to look at, they also have amazing stories behind the pristine mechanics and shiny paintwork. Vehicles involved in stories – from the lorry used in the Great Train Robbery to the iconic cars and bikes that have graced both TV and the big screen will also be on display.
