VOLUNTEERS HONOURED BY HAGERTY AT VETERAN CAR RUN

Company press release.

UK's Leading Insurer of Classic Cars Presents 'Achievement Award' to all Marshals and Volunteers Past and Present of the Veteran Car Run

Towcester, Northants (November, 2011) - Hagerty International, the UK's leading classic car and bike insurance specialist, honoured all the marshals and volunteers both past and present on the eve of the Veteran Car Run, the world's longest running car event.

Hagerty, sponsors of the annual event, presented the Hagerty London to Brighton Veteran Car Run Achievement Award to Bernard Cottrell who received the award on behalf of the thousands of veteran enthusiasts who turn out year after year to support and assist with the smooth running of the event.

'Earlier this year, it was recognised nationally, that the success of the Olympics was down to the wonderful group of volunteers who gave up their time to ensure that others could enjoy themselves' stated Angus Forsyth, Managing Director of Hagerty International. 'This is also true of the Veteran Car Run, because without the dedication, enthusiasm and selfless commitment from the Marshals and all other volunteers, this event would be extremely difficult to stage, if at all. This Award presents a small token of our collective thanks and recognition for all their hard work come rain or shine.'

'I am greatly honoured to receive this Award on behalf of all the Marshals', said Bernard Cottrell when presented with the silver trophy. 'We all love the Veteran Car Run and it forms the cornerstone to our motoring heritage and this Award is a lovely way to be recognised.'

The Award will now remain in pride of place at the Royal Automobile Club.

During the presentation of the Award, Forsyth also made special mention to the Royal Automobile Club and Veteran Car Club and the Dating Committee for their exceptional dedication to ensure that a 'full grid' of Veteran cars returned year after year to enjoy the run to Brighton.

The Royal Automobile Club's 2012 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, took place on Sunday 4 November. The world's longest running motoring event celebrated its 116th anniversary of the 1896 Emancipation Run. For more information visit http://veterancarrun.com/
