Breukers And Jefferies Won Again At Dubai In The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East

◾Two pole positions and a victory in Race 1 for the two youngster drivers of GDL Racing

◾The young German Carrie Schreiner and Richard Goddard of FFF Racing Team got the 2nd place overall

◾Andrew Haryanto is the new champion of the AM class

Sant'Agata Bolognese/Dubai, March 3, 2017. With their fourth consecutive victory in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East, Rik Breukers and Axcil Jefferies have managed to defend their championship lead, while waiting for the epilogue during Race 2, last round of the series, scheduled on Saturday, March 4.

The two young PRO drivers of the team GDL Racing built their victory already in the morning, by signing the pole position in both qualifying sessions which determine the starting grid of the two races scheduled at the Dubai Autodrome.

The start of the race was very exciting, because of the attempted attack to the leadership of Rik Breukers by Armaan Ebrahim, the Indian driver protagonist of the 2016 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia and at his first race behind the wheel of the Huracán Super Trofeo of Dilango Racing in Dubai. Breukers, however skillfully defended his first position by doing a series of fast laps (the only driver who managed to remain below 1'59' for a whole stint) which allowed him to leave the car to Axcil Jefferies in first position. The latter then managed to maintain the place until the end of the race.

Excellent performance for the car # 15, driven by the crew of FFF Racing Team by ACM, formed by the young German, Schreiner Carrie, and Richard Goddard. After starting from the eleventh position because of a perfectible qualifying, both drivers climbed the ranking thanks to a fast pace and a flawless race, which allowed them to get a second place overall and a second position in the PRO class. Behind them, third and fifth overall in the PRO class, there are their teammates of FFF Racing Team, Jack Bartholomew and the newcomer Devon Modell, behind the wheel of the Lamborghini # 5 . These three PRO crews are all still in contention for the championship title, which has not been assigned yet.

In the PRO-AM category, on the podium there is again the duo of Konrad Motorsport, formed by Hendrik Still and Paul Scheuschner, first in class (and third place overall). The two drivers also won the second round in Dubai, two weeks ago. The second place in the PRO-AM class was obtained by their direct followers in the standings, Costantino Bertuzzi and Nigel Farmer of GDL Racing. Finally, the third class place was conquered by the Huracan of the team Dilango Racing, driven by Ebrahim and Malagamuwa. After starting from the front row, they were then relegated to the ninth place overall, due to a contact in the second part of the race with car n.72 of Antonelli Motorsport.

The championship title in the AM category has already been mathematically assigned, with one race to go: Andrew Haryanto (car #71, GDL Racing) got an excellent fourth place overall and a first place in his category, a result which allowed him to move by 17 points ahead of Antonelli/Roda and to graduate as an AM Champion of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East. These results were achieved after overtaking Marco Antonelli, who finished second in the AM class. After a great performance in qualifying (fourth fastest time overall), the third place was obtained by the crew of the team GT3 Poland, formed by Myszkowski and Lewandowski.

Lastly, the rookie Gabriele Murroni of Petri Corse continued to improve his performance and to raise his limit.

Drivers' quotes

Rik Breukers - GDL Racing, car #7 (first overall and first in the PRO class): 'The start was not easy: the car #24 of Dilango Racing tried to attack but I managed to come out first from turn 1. I am extremely pleased, however, for a result already built in qualifying, where I managed to do the perfect lap!'

Axcil Jefferies: - GDL Racing, car #7 (first overall and first in the PRO class): ' Rik was tremendously good during his first stint, led at qualifying pace. He left me the car in an excellent condition and I only had to lead to the finish. I'm happy for the job done by the team, who worked hard to provide us with a really perfect Lamborghini.'

Hendrik Still - Konrad Motorsport, car #26 (fifth overall, first in the PRO-AM class): ' At first, I struggled a bit to find the right rhythm, both in qualifying and during the race, because I had never raced on this track layout in Dubai. Then, the pace came up during the race, I improved lap after lap and we got a good result'

Paul Scheuschner - Konrad Motorsport, car #26 (fifth overall, first in the PRO-AM class): 'Hendrik left me the car in second position and I did everything to keep it, even if I had to give up in the end, but anyway we got a great third place. I loved the track, fast and challenging.'

Race 2 of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East, last round of the championship, will be held at the Dubai Autodrome on Saturday, March 4 at 12:30 local time.
