Sun Shines On Barn Finds At Barons

June 19, 2017 by Barons

Sun Shines On Barn Finds At BaronsA bright summer's day brought the bidders out in quantity for Barons' British Heritage, Classic and Sports Cars sale at Sandown Park on June 13th, and barn finds were definitely in favour, as were pristine British classics.

Bidders keen for a new project competed over the 1971 Bristol 411 S2, the 1954 Jaguar XK140, and the 1981 Morgan 4/4. This tempting trio of restorations all exceeded their guide prices, selling for £28,600, £16,775 and £11,600 respectively.

At the other end of the condition scale, immaculate British classics also proved popular, with a beautiful 1924 Riley 11/40 Sports Tourer, a 1973 Jaguar E-type V12, and a 1982 Austin Morris Mini HL Clubman all going to new homes, selling for £28,500, £36,300 and £11,000.

Barons' auction manager Tim Gascoigne was buoyant: 'In our third auction of 2017, the British Heritage, Classic and Sports Cars sale at Sandown Park, we were celebrating all things British, with cars from Austin to Wolseley, and all British marques in between. The good old British weather even leant a helping hand, giving us a gloriously sunny day in Esher.

'With our next auction less than five weeks away, however, there's no time to put our feet up! We've already consigned a number of prestigious vehicles for our Barons Connoisseurs Classic Car Collection event on 18th July. This event is slightly different to our normal auctions. As a select auction of fine classic cars, we are offering a limited number of entries only to premium vehicles for the classic car connoisseur.'
