Repeat Victory For Volvo V90 At Scottish Car Of The Year Awards•Rugged Volvo V90 Cross Country crowned Estate Car of the Year 2017

•All-wheel-drive, all-road estate praised for its breadth of ability by Scottish judges

•V90 Cross Country available with choice of powerful yet efficient petrol and diesel engines

The Volvo V90 Cross Country has been named Estate Car of the Year at the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers' Awards in Edinburgh – retaining the title won by the V90 last year.

The Cross Country has all the style, quality, practicality, comfort and cutting-edge technology and safety as the rest of the V90 range, but gets a rugged makeover to turn it into the perfect all-road, all-season estate car.

This includes all-wheel drive, increased ground clearance and a host of sophisticated electronic aids – such as Hill Descent Control and an Off-Road mode that alters the car's dynamics – for tackling tricky terrain or slippery conditions. The V90 Cross Country even has different suspension settings and tyres to other V90s for maximum comfort and control at all times.

It gets a tough exterior look thanks to wheelarch extensions, front and rear skid plates, and charcoal-coloured side sills and lower door mouldings, while the luxurious interior benefits from black walnut trim sections and leather-faced upholstery with unique stitching.

Like every V90, the Cross Country version is full of high-tech equipment designed to make your life easier and more enjoyable. The intuitive Sensus touch screen system, for example, allows you to control the car's entertainment, convenience and safety functions from a single interface – even when you're wearing gloves. You can also turn the car into a WiFi hotspot and access a range of cloud-based media and assistance apps.

Volvo's pioneering Pilot Assist semi-autonomous drive technology is also fitted to every V90. This alleviates the strain on long motorway journeys by helping with the steering and taking control of the accelerator and brakes to keep the car within its lane and at a set speed or distance from any vehicle in front.

Commenting on the V90 Cross Country, Stephen Park, President of the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers, said: 'There's no doubting the usefulness of an estate car, especially when today's breed deliver practicality without any sacrifice in refinement. But in terms of breadth of ability, one car stands apart. Perfectly suited to Scottish terrain, our winner is a new version of a previous favourite.'

Jon Wakefield, Managing Director of Volvo Car UK, said: 'This repeat success at the Scottish Car of the Year Awards is a testament to the wide-ranging appeal and ability of the V90. The Cross Country version is already proving a hit with our customers, and this award only goes to show how well received it has been by the motoring media, too.'
