The milestone highlights MoMA's commitment to its founding educational mission of ensuring people of all ages and abilities enjoy, understand and use art in ways that enrich their lives.

A multi-year sponsor of MoMA and MoMA PS1 since 2011, Volkswagen became lead sponsor of MoMA Education in 2015, supporting efforts to significantly expand the museum's instructor-led Coursera online courses, interactive apps, and free downloadable resources to reach a global audience. Through its long-standing partnership, Volkswagen also sponsors a variety educational offerings, among them The People's Studio, Art Lab, Gallery Sessions, Prime Time, and others.

'Art is the inspiring link among cultures, people and ideas, and for more than 80 years, MoMA has been turning a museum's experience into a lesson with the influence to change people's lives,' said David Geanacopoulos, Senior Executive Vice President of Public Affairs & Policy, Volkswagen Group of America. 'As lead sponsor of MoMA's global education programming, Volkswagen is pleased to celebrate this milestone in the museum's history, and looks forward to the next steps of our strong collaboration.'

'As we celebrate the accomplishments of the past, we also look to the future to think about how our education programs can continue to engage and inspire the global community,' said Wendy Woon, The Edward John Noble Foundation Deputy Director for Education, MoMA. 'MoMA is committed, as ever, to encouraging curiosity, reflection, conversation, creative exploration, and community by offering both onsite and digital programs that connect people with art, artists, ideas, and others around the world. We are deeply grateful for Volkswagen's steadfast support and their shared commitment to experimentation, innovation, and creativity that makes this deep engagement with the community possible.'

'Education is at the very heart of MoMA's mission, and Volkswagen has been a dedicated partner to this program for over six years,' said Todd Bishop, Senior Deputy Director for External Affairs, MoMA. 'We are delighted to have them by our side as we celebrate this important milestone in education and plan new ways to connect visitors and the community abroad with modern and contemporary art.'

The MoMA Department of Education started in 1937 as a two-year pilot known then as the 'Educational Project.'
