Ford Celebrates 10 Years As Mid America Ford And Shelby Nationals Sponsor In Tulsa

TULSA, Okla., June 7, 2013 – This year marks an important milestone for Ford Motor Company with the running of the 39th annual Mid America Ford and Shelby Nationals, June 12-16, 2013 in Tulsa, Okla. Ford is celebrating 10 years as official sponsor of this tradition-rich event by creating engaging experiences for enthusiasts.

'Ford Motor Company is proud to mark our 10th year as official sponsor of the Mid America Ford and Shelby Nationals,' says Paul Brearey, Ford marketing manager for enthusiast events. 'There is simply no other event quite like it. The combination of driving opportunities, shows, cruises and social gatherings created for car enthusiasts makes it truly unique. The Tulsa event is a celebration for genuine car people.'

Festivities kick off Wednesday, June 12, with a high-speed driving school at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. Over three days of open track competition, instructors will help drivers get more comfortable racing their own Ford vehicles, with drivers ranging from beginner level to expert. On Saturday, drag racing instruction at Tulsa Raceway Park is sure to generate excitement among enthusiasts as they battle head-to-head.

At the Tulsa Marriott Southern Hills, Saturday also brings Ride-and-Drives in Ford's elite stable of vehicles, showcasing such cars and trucks as the Mustang V6 and GT; Focus; and the F-150 and F-250. The Fiesta ST is also making an appearance for the first time in Tulsa, and will be on display at the Ride-and-Drive. Then on Sunday, the All Ford Super Show will feature one of the country's largest gatherings of vintage and late-model Ford-powered street machines, race cars and classics.

Away from the track on Friday, at the Tulsa Marriott Southern Hills, participants can enjoy an evening of friendship and a full-course dinner where guest speakers including Ford's own Dean Weber, manager of archives and audiovisual assets, will share stories about the iconic brand. An accomplished 35-year Ford employee, Weber has traveled to more than a dozen countries on four continents documenting, preserving and sharing Ford's rich heritage.
