Syon Park, London, 5 September 2013 – Salon Privé and the Royal College of Art today revealed eleven exclusive new car designs in an all-new feature for 2013, the 'Concours of the Future' design exhibition.
A new and exciting addition to Salon Privé 2013, Concours of the Future sees a group of talented Postgraduates from the RCA's Vehicle Design programme tasked to revisit some historic Concours-winning cars and re-design these icons for the modern world, and beyond. Eleven students were selected to showcase their work from nearly 40 original entries.
Hosting the exhibition and prize-giving ceremony, Peter Horbury, Vice President, Design – Geely, said: 'This is a fantastic opportunity for design students from the RCA to showcase their work to the automotive world. Many of the world's leading manufacturers and designers are here at Salon Privé, and these leaders of our industry are ultimately potential future employers of the brilliantly talented students showing us their work today. The work we've seen is both exceptional and brave, and I can imagine these designs featuring on the lawns here for real in future years.'
Designers of the top three 'Concours of the Future' designs were presented with trophies designed and manufactured by Bridge of Weir Leather Company and a magnum of Pommery champagne, with the overall winner invited to Milan for a behind-the-scenes tour and design master-class with Andrea Zagato at the Zagato Design Studio.
Celebrating its eighth year in 2013, Salon Privé takes place from the 4th to 6th of September at West London's Syon Park and is firmly established as the UK's most prestigious Luxury Super Car Show & Concours d'Elégance. Several new product debuts will make the Audemars Piguet Super Car Show an incredible spectacle, as well as the Chubb Insurance Concours d'Elégance, the EFG Art and Memorabilia Fayre, and a host of exclusive luxury goods exhibits place Salon Privé among the leading automotive shows of the world, alongside the U.S.'s Pebble Beach and Italy's Villa d'Este.
