NEW BREMBO GT CALIPER AND PEDAL BOX ASSEMBLY DEBUT AT 2013 PRI SHOW

Company press release.

NEW BREMBO GT CALIPER AND PEDAL BOX ASSEMBLY DEBUT AT 2013 PRI SHOWINDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 12, 2013 - Taking its range of Racing products to a new level of performance, Brembo - the world leader in brake technology and the Choice of Champions - chose the 2013 PRI Show to debut two new exciting products, including a new six-piston, monobloc aluminum caliper designed specifically to fit 390mm discs.

This GT caliper is the first one designed by Brembo specifically to work on discs with a bigger annulus (a braking radial surface as large as 64mm) allowing the use of a larger 30 mm pad and thereby granting longer life in endurance racing competitions. The geometry of the new GT caliper is optimized to reduce the overall weight of the braking system and to guarantee excellent performance for the prototypes and GT cars racing in the various sports car championships.

An important new feature of the caliper is an innovative 'quick-release' system for pad replacement that allows the mechanic to change the worn pads as safely and as quickly as possible. The caliper can also be fitted with a sensor that checks pad wear during the race.

Brembo Racing also debuted a new pedal box assembly made specifically for race cars that utilize floor-mounted kits. Designed initially for WRC races, this pedal box assembly is clearly suited for any Rally or sports car competition where maximum performance is required.

The assemblies are floor mounted with three pedals divided into two groups: clutch/brake and accelerator, that can also be purchased separately. The clutch and inverted Y-shaped brake pedals are linked by a single stud that gives the assembly a significantly optimized stiffness. The alignment of the mounting holes allows the use of only two tracks, so the system is lighter and simpler to install.

The gas pedal group has a separate frame from the clutch/brake group, allowing unrestricted and optimized mounting. The gas pedal group has an electronic dual sensor in order to ensure operation even in the event of a fault with the main sensor. The overall weight of the pedal assembly is just 3.25 kg.

For Brembo even the smallest details make a big difference and that is why the pedal assembly has various features that make it extremely customizable and adaptable to the needs of each driver. In fact, both groups mount fully adjustable pedals and plates; the push-type master cylinders are available in various diameters and models such as the 'Performance' version where the free travel is controlled and calibrated for each master cylinder.

As an alternative option to the clutch/brake assembly, customers can request, with two different lengths, the Remote Adjuster for active braking balancing regulation. This tool allows the driver to change the braking distribution between the front and rear directly from the cockpit, therefore changing the vehicle balancing.
