WEEKDAY RUN STARTS STRONG WITH ATTENDANCE OF 76,531

Company press release.

• Holiday brings families to the show; Rev. Jesse Jackson visits

Detroit, Mich., Jan. 21, 2014 - Families came out in large numbers yesterday and continued to enjoy the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) after a successful opening weekend, and on the national holiday celebrating the life and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King. Yesterday's attendance of 76,531 is more than 4,000 higher than last year's Monday gate of 72,321.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr., founder and president of Rainbow PUSH Coalition addressed a crowd which gathered for the group's Automotive Project in the #Cobo Center Atrium.

'It is expedient that we celebrate Dr. King's birthday at the North American International Auto Show,' said Jackson. 'His life embodied inclusiveness and much of the diversity gains in the auto industry began with his dream. One could argue that African Americans and other minorities would not have achieved the unparalleled successes as executives, dealers and suppliers had he not lived. However, there is still much work to be done.'

At the conclusion of the activity, Jackson and others enjoyed a tour of the auto show, which continued to excite visitors of all ages. Jackson's visit to NAIAS follows a week when several public officials, including Vice President Joe Biden, also visited NAIAS.

#NAIAS continues through Sunday, Jan. 26. Public show ticket prices: Adults: $13; Seniors: $7 (65 and older); Children 7 - 12: $7 (6 and under free when accompanied by a parent or guardian). For show hours and more information, visit naias.com.
