VOLKSWAGEN APPOINTS MARK BARNES VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES

Herndon, VA (January 29, 2014) - Volkswagen of America today announced the appointment of Mark Barnes, 54, to the post of Vice President, Sales for the Volkswagen brand, effective February 1. In this role, Barnes will have responsibility for leading and continuing the sales momentum recently seen at the company. This role directs the activities of the U.S. sales regions, retail programs and fleet and remarketing. Barnes will report to Mark McNabb, Chief Operating Officer, Volkswagen of America.

'We are excited to welcome Mark back to the Volkswagen team,' said McNabb. 'Mark's in-depth automotive experience, particularly in sales and U.S. dealer relations, will help continue to build our partnerships as we work towards future growth in this market.'

Barnes most recently served as Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales for General Motors International Operations. Prior to that, Barnes served in a number of senior roles including Vice President of Customer Experience and other leadership positions at Volkswagen of America; Director of Chrysler's U.S., Western Region Business Center, and Vice President of National Sales at Hyundai North America.

Barnes has a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and music from Indiana State University.
