The Lancia Aurelia (named after the Roman road, the Via Aurelia) was introduced in 1950 and produced through 1958. It was noted for using the first production V6 engine.
The Aurelia was offered in body styles, including a 4-door sedan, 2-door GT coupe, 2-door spider/convertible, and a chassis to be custom bodied.
This particular example is the B20 GT coupe designed by Felice Boano at Ghia Studios, with a body by Pininfarina. Featuring the 2.5-liter Lancia V6 and a 4-speed transaxle, this car was briefly raced and rallied by its first owners, Societa Scuderia Campidoglio. It was sold to a woman racer, Letizia Izzo, and rallied through the 1961 season. It made its way to the United Kingdom, then Australia, where it was rallied and campaigned in hill climbs. Modifications include Repco brakes, a Holden clutch and distributor, a competition cam, and twin Weber DCZ carburetors.
