1958 Buick Series 60 Century 2-Door Hardtop

This 1958 Buick Century Model 66R coupe was sold to J.W. Grove of Red Lion, Pennsylvania, on June 7, 1958, from Amberman Buick Co of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania. Mr. Grove seldom drove his Buick, as it has only accumulated 45,000 miles over 65 years. The plastic seat covers were installed shortly after the purchase of the vehicle, and it is still wearing about 80 percent of its original paint. The Century had been Buick's performance car since its introduced in 1937. This Riviera marked the last year for the full-size Century and was the largest version built at 211.8 inches. Its B-1200 365 cubic-inch nail head V8 engine produced a healthy 300 horsepower, and it has the venerable twin turbine 'Variable Pitch Dynaflow' transmission with torque tube drive. This car was a basic Century, only having an automatic transmission, radio, and heater as options. Even without power steering or brakes, it is a delight to drive on the highway, easily cruising with traffic at any reasonable speed, and has great brakes using the air-cooled finned aluminum brake drums that were new for this year.
