On October 29, RM Auctions' Automobiles of London event defied an early blast of winter and financial market uncertainty to produce very strong results. World media, noted celebrities, and knowledgeable collectors together witnessed a great selection of rare and historic automobiles gather total sales just short of the £15 million mark.

Shortly after the auction began, an award-winning 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Tour de France Berlinetta sold for £2,255,000, while the ex Park Lane showroom 1997 McLaren F1 supercar was the event's top seller, drawing a record-setting £2,530,000. Other notable sales included a beautifully preserved 1938 Horch 853 Special Roadster, as well as a number of remarkable custom creations by the UK's renowned automotive artist, Andy Saunders.

RM's Peter Wallman summed up the results as '… very good indeed. We went into it with our eyes wide open and very aggressively, showing that we are willing to positively and professionally market our customers' automobiles in both good times and challenging times.'
