The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering welcomed more than 200 exceptional automobiles during its highly anticipated event held during Monterey Car Week. This year's celebration highlighted four featured classes: Tribute to World Rally Cars, 50th Anniversary of the Porsche 911 Turbo (930), 30th Anniversary of Koenigsegg Automotive and 100 Years of MG. Keeping with tradition, the featured classes were complemented by the familiar roster of classes, including Pre- and Post-War Sports and Racing Cars, The Great Ferraris, Custom Coachwork, The Evolution of the Supercar, and Sports and Racing Motorcycles. Additionally, more than a dozen of the world's most renowned automakers had vehicle unveilings, with many more showcasing unique models from the past, present and future.

Celebrated Marques

This year, the Quail celebrated the Porsche and Koenigsegg brands, both of whom have pushed the boundaries of automotive technology, and their models have gained popularity for optimal performance and ultra-luxurious designs. The Porsche celebration focused on its 911 Turbo (930), the company's top 911 model from 1975 to 1989 and was the fastest production car available in Germany at the time of its release. This year, the 911 Turbo (930) celebrated its 50th Anniversary.
1975 Porsche 911 Turbo
Among the collection of Porsche 911 Turbo models on display were two examples that were among the first 30 vehicles produced worldwide and only the second unit imported to France. Additionally, on display was a 1975 Porsche 911 Turbo that is the sole example ever built by the Stuttgart manufacturer without the signature rear spoiler.

The Quail celebrated the 30th Anniversary of Koenigsegg Automotive, creators of world-class hypercars, by showcasing many of its creations including the CCX, Agera and Jesko. Christian von Koenigsegg founded his namesake car company in 1994, and since its inception, has created many of the most striking and technologically advanced hypercars in he world. Highlights on the show field included the only CCR and earliest Koenigsegg in North America, and a one-of-one 2007 Koenigsegg CCGT GT1 Competition Coupé, the only race car ever built by the Swedish marque.

1925 MG 14/28
British automotive icon MG celebrated its 100 years of existence, and its legacy was celebrated at The Quail with several significant examples on display. The company helped define the modern sports car, and its commitment to open-top two-seaters have given its faithful following many spirited models over the past century. Among the highlights at this year's event was a 1937 MG SA Reinbolt and Christé, which is the only surviving example of just seven vehicles ordered with custom coachwork by the Basel-based Carrosserie Reinbolt & Christé. Also on display was a 1949 MG TC driven by Carroll Shelby to his first road racing victory, the beginning of his career as one of the most legendary drivers in American racing history.

Tribute to World Rally Cars

1982 Lancia Rally 037
The World Rally Championship holds the distinction of being the second oldest FIA racing series, superseded only by Formula 1. Inaugurated in 1973, World Rally established itself as being one of the most challenging feats in motorsport, with driving surfaces ranging from gravel and tarmac to snow and ice across multiple-day events. The Quail celebrated the legacy of this racing series by inviting several important milestone examples that helped redefine the sport and pushed the boundary of speed and durability. This included the 1983 Lancia Abarth 037 piloted by Walter Röhrl to win both the 1983 Monte Carlo Rally and that year's championship. It marked the last time a rear-wheel drive vehicle claimed victory in either event. Joining the Abarth 037 was a 1986 Lancia Delta S4, which on its debut delivered first- and second-place finishes at the 1985 RAC Rally and later saw victory at the Monte Carlo Rally with Henri Toivonen behind the wheel.

Best of Show : the Delahaye Type 145

1937 Delahaye Type 145
A Delahaye was crowned 'Best of Show' at the 2024 The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering and became the newest inductee in the coveted Rolex Circle of Champions. It was originally constructed as an open-wheel race car to challenge contenders from Mercedes and other European marques. The vehicle's revolutionary 12-cylinder engine was capable of 240 horsepower, and is believed the car was driven by Renee Dreyfus in the Prix du Million, 1938 Pau Grand Prix and Cork Grand Prix. It was later sold to Marius Franay to have new sports car coachwork built on the racer chassis, completely enclosing all of its original racing mechanicals. Following its completion, the vehicle later went on to win the 'Prix du Honneur' at the 1947 Paris Salon.

The Bugatti Tourbillon

The Bugatti Tourbillon was presented on American soil for the first time at The Quail, allowing many visitors their very first close-up experience of a new Bugatti era. Designed Pour L'éternité (for eternity), the Tourbillon has been envisioned from the very beginning as a car that could appear on the lawns of Quail Lodge a century into the future. The naturally aspirated 8.3-liter V16 engine is paired with a trio of electric motors with a total output of 1,800 hp.

Mate Rimac, CEO of Bugatti, said: The development of the Bugatti Tourbillon was guided at every step by the 115 years of Bugatti history and the words of Ettore Bugatti himself. His mantras 'if comparable it is no longer Bugatti' and 'nothing is too beautiful' were a guiding path for me personally, as well as the design and engineering teams looking to create the next exciting era in the Bugatti hyper sports car story.

'Icons like the Type 57SC Atlantic, renowned as the most beautiful car in the world, the Type 35, the most successful racing car ever, and the Type 41 Royale, one of the most ambitious luxury cars of all time, provide our three pillars of inspiration. Beauty, performance and luxury formed the blueprint for the Tourbillon; a car that was more elegant, more emotive and more luxurious than anything before it. Quite simply, incomparable. And just like those icons of the past, it wouldn't be simply for the present, or even for the future, but Pour l'éternité – for eternity.'
