At the auction an impressive 95% sell-through rate was achieved, while on the show field the top honors were given to a 1933 Delage D8S Roadster by De Villars restored by RM Auto Restoration.
At Sports & Classics of Monterey, top-sellers included an exquisite 1938 Talbot-Lago T150-C Lago Speciale with coachwork by Figoni et Falaschi and an exceptional 1954 Ferrari 375 MM Berlinetta, the fifth of only seven examples built, each selling for $4,620,000. In addition, a rare 1948 Tucker 48 Sedan set a new world record for a Tucker sold at auction, selling for $1,127,500. Overall sales amounted to $67 million for the most significant auction offering ever presented on the Peninsula, and 16 lots achieved over $1 million each.
Complementing the Best of Show win by the Delage from the Patterson Collection was a Third in Class win by the 1929 Duesenberg Model J Dual Cowl Phaeton, owned by Charles Letts of Detroit, Michigan and also restored by RM. A 1934 Packard Sports Coupe restored by RM, owned by Ralph and Adeline Marano of Garwood, New Jersey, also made a strong showing at the concours to round out what was a historic and memorable weekend for the RM group of companies.
