1912 Auburn Model 30L Formal Sedan

    1912 Auburn Model 30L Navigation
The 1912 Auburn 30L was built as a Roadster and a Tourer. Power was from a four-cylinder engine offering 30 horsepower. This particular car is a special exception to the body style (Model 30L) rule - its a Special Formal Sedan that was built specifically for the 1912 Boston Auto Show. It was called the 'Car of Tomorrow' and given many advanced features that would soon make their way into the normal production line of cars. It has staggered doors, the right one toward the rear and the left one at the front. It has electric lights and a beautiful and elaborate original interior.

The builder of this car is not known. At the Boston Auto Show, a wealthy man from Toronto, Canada, purchased this unique and special automobile.

The car rides on a smaller four-cylinder chassis of 116 inches. The Rutenber engine produces 30 horsepower, and the cost (when new) was a staggering $6,200. It is one of the 1,623 vehicles produced by Auburn in 1912.
