1902 Rambler Model C Navigation
Thomas B. Jeffery produced bicycles in Chicago from 1878 to 1900. At the turn of the century, he switched to automobile production in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
His Rambler was introduced in the spring of 1902 and became the world's second mass-produced car, behind Oldsmobile's curved-dash model. The Rambler was one year before the formation of the Ford Motor Company.
The one-cylinder Rambler Model 'C' was available in only one color - Brewster Green. It had a wheelbase that measured 79.5 inches and its L-head, water-cooled, single-cylinder engine produced 6 horsepower.
The Kenosha plant where the Rambler Model C was produced was later used for making engines for DaimlerChrysler, the lineal corporate success of Rambler, Hudson, Nash, and American Motors.By Daniel Vaughan | Jul 2010
