1938 Morgan 4/4 Navigation
In 1938 Morgan introduced the 4-4 Drop Head Coupe. It was given a wheelbase that measured 92 inches and was powered by a 1.1-liter Coventry Climax four-cylinder engine offering 34 horsepower. Between 1938 and 1939, only 58 examples were produced.
This Drop Head Coupe is a special example, it is the first prototype example and its favorable acceptance by Morgan management led to production. Avon Bodies had been commissioned to build this car as a prototype and it is one of a kind. This example has a special 1.267 liter Standard Special motor which was introduced on later Morgan production cars.
One unique feature on this car is in the rear part of the body which is much more rounded than was feasible for production.
