1955 Dodge Coronet Lancer Hardtop

In 1949, Virgil Exner left Raymond Loewy's design firm to become Chrysler's head of advanced styling. Acting quickly, Exner unleashed a series of styling exercises, show cars and a mild restyling of the Chrysler line in 1953. His 'Forward Look' of 1955 brought with it a modern flair that was visually appealing and a stroke of genius.

This 1955 Dodge Coronet Lancer two-door hardtop is an all-original example with fewer than 35,000 actual miles from new. It was owned by the same family for over 40 years, followed by another owner for approximately three years, prior to acquisition by the current owner. Power is from a 270 cubic-inch 'Red Ram' V8 engine offering 175 horsepower. There is a PowerFlite two-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes.

In 2010, this Coronet Lancer Hardtop was offered for sale at the Vintage Motor Cars of Meadow Brook event presented by RM Auctions. It was estimated to sell for $20,000 - $28,000 and offered without reserve. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $19,800 including buyer's premium.
