The Imperial Crown sold for an impressive $5,775, and just 429 examples were originally built. This car was purchased by its present owner in 1994 from Texas before commissioning professionals to gradually restore it over the ensuing years. The Dubonnet Maroon paint finish and white interior upholstery were finished in 2004. The 413 cubic-inch V8 engine produces 350 horsepower and there is a TorqueFlite pushbutton-operated three-speed automatic transmission. Braking is from power-operated hydraulic drums and the wheelbase measures 129 inches. The car has fewer than 3,000 miles since its restoration. There are power brakes, power steering, power-swiveling front seats, and a power top. Also, there is an original AM radio that was upgraded to prove M/FM capabilities as well.
This car has been honored with Best in Show at the Statewide Imperial Meet in 2008 and Best in Show at the Freewheelers Regional Meet in 2009, as well as a number of other regional-level Best in Class and Best Color awards.
In 2010, this Imperial Crown Convertible was offered for sale at the Vintage Motor Cars of Meadow Brook event presented by RM Auctions. It was estimated to sell for $75,000 - $100,000.
