1929 Hispano Suiza H6B Boattail Dual Cowl Phaeton

This car was delivered on July 27, 1929, to its original owner, Carlo Cito Filomarino, Prince of Vitello, Italy. It subsequently found its way to Sacramento, CA, and was purchased sight unseen in 1966 by the present owner. The car had been left outdoors for many years, and its original steel body was rusted beyond repair, but it was mechanically complete. After a long 'last nut and bolt' restoration of the chassis, it was decided to fabricate a new body that would incorporate styling features found on several contemporary cars. A design was drafted by a local boat builder, and the body was constructed of Spanish cedar over white ash framing. The H6B was one of the most expensive cars in the world. Its four-wheel braking system and 135-horsepower straight-six engine made it a superior performance machine, and its luxurious, custom-built bodies made it a car of regal design. The price for the chassis was $8,035 in 1929.
