1971 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 Sedan

The various versions of this basic body style were produced from the Giulia TI in 1962 through the Nuova Super in 1977. Although this was the most popular car Alfa Romeo ever produced at 572,626 units, only about 2000 were imported into the United States. The chassis is the same as the contemporary Spider and GTV that were more popular in the US, but the sedan body was stiffer and thus better for racing where it was used widely in Europe. It turns out that in spite of its boxy look, the Kamm tail is very aerodynamic - it surpasses that of an XKE in wind tunnel testing! The cars were made with 1300 or 1600cc engines and in the last two year of production a diesel engine was available as well.

This particular model was made in Europe in 1970-1972 only and was never imported into the US. It has two headlights instead of four as on the US models, the speedometer is in kilometers, there is no clock, and the front side marker lights are different from the US models. And most importantly, to protect the health of Europeans, there is no cigarette lighter!
