1953 Pegaso Z102 Navigation
The Pegaso Z102 stole the show at the Paris and Turin Auto Shows in 1951. Spain's first new car of the postwar era, the Pegaso was essentially a racing car adapted for road use. The heart of this exotic GT car was a 2.5-liter quad-cam V8 engine, the first such power unit to be featured in a production car. It was designed by Wifredo Ricart, the ex-Alfa Romeo engineer who was responsible for the mid-engined Alfa Romeo Tipo 512 Grand Prix race car. The Z102 was designed and built entirely in-house, including the coachwork, but Ricart wanted the finest bodies for his cars and commissioned designs from Saoutchhik in Paris, Carrozzeria Touring in Milan, and Serra in Barcelona.
