1937 Studebaker President Navigation
This special police vehicle was ordered by the city of Canton, Ohio, in 1937 to maintain control of the violet street strikes at area mills. It was in service for more than 50 years without a breakdown.
The car features ten gauge steel armor throughout the body, 1.125-inch thick bullet-proof window glass with opening chromed gun ports, and multiply bullet-resistant tires with inner liners. It also has a 2-way Motorola Police radio with a secondary backup radio system standard. In 1937 the company that custom fitted the armor guaranteed the car to be bullet-proof for any bullets up to 45 caliber gun shots.
The car was completely restored in 1997-2002 by the Canton Classic Car Museum and volunteers of the Studebaker Drivers Club. Many area businesses donated time and materials toward the restoration.Source - Canton Classic Car Museum
