The Graham Brothers brand name had been used in 1927 and 1928, but for 1929 the truck was sold under the Dodge Brothers name. This was the first half-ton pickup truck designed entirely by Chrysler Corporation engineers. Powering the truck was a slightly modified Plymouth four-cylinder engine that displaced 175 cubic-inches and produces 45 horsepower. It had a three-speed manual gearbox and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. This half-ton pickup was officially listed as the Doge Merchant's Express. It was the least-expensive commercial chassis offered by Dodge up to this time. Dodge truck sales would finish the year fourth nationally, with models up to three tons capacity.By Daniel Vaughan | Nov 2010
