1930 Auburn Model 125 Sport Sedan

After E.L. Cord took over the Auburn Motor Car Company in 1925, sales peaked in 1929. Sales dipped in 1930 but bounced back in 1931 and established a new company sales record. It was the 13th-largest U.S. car manufacturer in 1931 and used the slogan 'What Depression?'

The Sport Sedan featured the largest displacement eight-cylinder offered by Auburn in 1930. The 298 cubic-inch Lycoming straight eight produced 125 horsepower. The Sport Sedan was part of the 8-125 series, a descendant of the 1928 model 8-115 which had reached a record of 108.46 mph in the measured mile at Daytona.

This Auburn 8-125 Sports Sedan may be the only example still in existence. It was once the property of the automotive historian Beverly Rae Kimes and her husband, auto restorer Jim Cox. The two called this car Ralph and put over 50,000 miles on the car. It was donated to the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum in 2007.
