1992 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray III Concept Navigation
At the 1992 Detroit Auto Show, Chevrolet introduced its Sting Ray III Concept. The car was a totally original design that retained the heritage and character of the classic Corvette designs of the 1960's. It was built using carbon fiber, which gave it strength and flexibility without adding extra weight. Innovative features were added such as seats that were fixed in place, movable steering wheel and pedals and a sloping windshield.
Powering the concept was a 300 horsepower LT-1 V-8 engine. Chevrolet considered building it, but it never made it into production.By Daniel Vaughan | Jan 2011
