This MG NA Magnette Special was registered in East Sussex in 1935 as NJ 6218. It is one of just 745 N-series Magnettes built during the mid-1930s. The car was completely rebuilt in England in 1984, with new aluminum bodywork on tubular steel framing. The engine is a 1287cc overhead cam inline six that develops 56 horsepower. There is a four-speed manual gearbox and four-wheel mechanical drum brakes.
During the 1980s, the car was raced in England. In 2002, it was imported into California by its current owner.
In 2011, the car was offered for sale at the RM Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was estimated to sell for $75,000 - $100,000 and offered without reserve. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for the sum of $74,250 including buyer's premium.By Daniel Vaughan | Feb 2011
